Air Con Re gas R744

What is R744?

R744 is the refrigerant designation for carbon dioxide (CO₂) and is increasingly used in modern vehicle air conditioning systems. Unlike traditional refrigerants, R744 has a very low global warming potential, making it a more environmentally friendly option.

R744 systems operate at significantly higher pressures than conventional air conditioning systems, which means they require specialist equipment and trained technicians to service them correctly.

Why Does Your R744 Air Conditioning System Need Servicing?

Over time, your vehicle's air conditioning system may become less effective. Regular servicing can help identify potential problems and ensure the system continues to operate as intended.

You may need to have your air conditioning system checked if:

• The air coming from the vents isn't as cold as it used to be.
• Your air conditioning takes longer to cool the vehicle.
• You notice unusual smells or noises when the system is running.
• The system isn't working as effectively as expected.
• You are unsure when your air conditioning system was last serviced.

Because R744 systems operate at high pressures, servicing should be carried out using the correct specialist equipment and by appropriately trained technicians.
